Olive Hazel Goodwin (née Nekurak) passed away peacefully at 89 year's of age, Nov 17, 2022 at Samaritan Place in Saskatoon, SK., with family by her side.

She is survived by daughter, Marcia (Brian) Haw; son, William (Susan) Goodwin; daughter, Linda (Dennis) Larocque; grandchildren, Alesha (Adam) Schumacher, Erin (Jeff) Flores and Adam Goodwin; 9 adored great-grandchildren; brother, Maurice (Ruth) Nekurak; and nieces, nephews and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Goodwin; parents, William and Elizabeth Nekurak; brother, Orest Nekurak; and sister-in-law, Gertie Nekurak.

Olive was born April 27, 1933 in Saskatoon, SK.  In school, she enjoyed track and field, art and home economics.  When her father returned from many years away during WWII, the family ran restaurants in Melfort, Waskesieu and Watrous.  Despite hard work and long hours, Mom enjoyed many happy times working alongside her brothers.  After the work was done, recreation often involved dancing and music.  Besides raising her family of 3, Olive also worked at Birks, Flaman Investigation and Luther Place.  Olive was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and was well known for her baking, cooking and hospitality.  She was also an avid gardener and grew many beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.  Mom was generous of heart and shared the fruits of her labor from her lovingly tended garden, and her bountiful table with everyone.  Olive was a dedicated and doting daughter, proud and thoughtful mother, much-loved grandmother, cherished aunt and loyal friend.

There will be a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. at the Edwards Family Centre on Sunday, December 18, 2022.  Parking will be available across the street at Saskatoon Funeral Home – 338 4th Ave. N, Saskatoon, SK.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. A Holden of the Community Clinic, as well as the caregivers, nurses and staff of Samaritan Place, for providing the highest quality of care for Olive.
