With heavy hearts, the family announces the peaceful passing of Reginald Douglas Currie on October 16, 2025, at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, at the age of 92.

Reg is lovingly remembered by his daughters Brenda (Les), Cheryl (Tim), and Cindy (Greg), and his son-in-law Terry (Mike and children). He was a proud grandfather to Becky (Akhil), Josh (Kayli and Kala), Cory, Matthew, and Connor.

Reg also leaves behind his siblings Eileen, Don (Valerie), Larry, Ken (Sandra), Marilyn (Dale), and several nieces and nephews. As well as special neighbours and friends Ozzie (Shenay) and Lil.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Doreen, his son Brian, parents James and Jean Currie, and brothers Bill, Bud, and Doug.

Born in Watrous, SK and raised on the family farm in Young, SK. Reg was schooled at Kingsbridge until Grade 7 and then moved to Saskatoon in 1946, where he attended King Edward and City Park schools. He lived in Young, SK, for a time, where he worked in the hotel and farmed. In November 1951, he married Doreen Renner, and in 1956 moved his young family to Saskatoon. Reg began his career with SaskPower, where he worked faithfully for 34 years until his retirement in 1988.

In retirement, Reg and Doreen spent their summers at the cabin in Waskesiu, and enjoyed 25 winters in Las Vegas, making memories with friends and family. Reg spent many happy summers in his backyard, gardening and suntanning at his home of 65 years.

A man of resilience, Reg overcame a triple bypass surgery in 2002, and in 2010, he became the first resident of Saskatchewan to receive a life-saving transcatheter valve replacement in Edmonton - a pioneering procedure at the time.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honour Reg's life on Saturday, October 25, at 2:00 p.m., at Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
