Robert H. Irwin (Bob)
September 3,1951 to November 8, 2025
It is with great sadness, and broken hearts, that the family of Bob Irwin announce his passing, with Marie by his side, after a short stay in the hospital, and after a years-long battle with lung issues.
Bob was born in Saskatoon and lived in Montgomery Place until grade 7, when they moved to the East side of the city.
Bob was predeceased by his father, Charlie Irwin, and his mother, Jean Irwin, nee McCreadie, as well as his father and mother in-law, Wendel and Katherine Feist, and his own uncles and aunts, as well as relatives of Marie, who have passed.
Bob will be very lovingly remembered and missed by his wife, Marie of 54+ years, his daughter Wendi Brown (Carl); daughters, Jasmine Malcolm (Val) and Kaelyn Malcolm (Josh) his son, Rob (Anna), brother Steve (Sheila) and many other relatives on both sides.
Bob retired from Saskatoon Transit after 25 years, receiving his "golden" watch. He enjoyed driving the bus and meeting so many "interesting" individuals along the way.
Bob was an avid Saskatchewan Roughrider fan, as all his friends and family knew. From many years of Season Tickets with his (now passed buddies, Stan Feist, and Tom Peters), to watching at home, to our Annual Grey Cup Party, The Riders played a huge part in his life. Many friends commented that Bob helped us win the West Final, from above. I can get on board with that! So Bob, please remember that Grey Cup is this Sunday, so you all better be cheering loud and hard!
Bob was a member of the Saskatoon Optimist Club for many years, as well as the Medicine Hat Optimist Club, which he attended with his good buddy, Dale Rude.
Bob had a terrific personality and loved making jokes, often at his own expense. He maintained a very positive attitude throughout the years, right up until a couple of days before he passed.
We made many, many trips to British Columbia, namely Kelowna (where my parents lived) and Vancouver where the kids lived. Many happy times spent visiting!
Bob and Marie also went on many enjoyable trips to beautiful Jamaica, to the "Hip Strip" in Montego Bay. So many precious memories from there. So many strangers, who became friends. We also visited our granddaughters' other Nana (Eileen's) home in Falmouth area of Jamaica, a couple of times. (Thanks to the girls' dad, Dave Malcolm!) Such a beautiful country!
Bob and Marie had a RV at a site in Wakaw Lake Regional Park for over 25 years and thoroughly enjoyed all the happy times with family and friends, too many to mention, but they know who they are!
After we sold our place at the Park, we went on our dream trip down East. Starting about mid-September 2023 until the end of October, we toured the East, going all the way to Newfoundland. We can proudly say that we have travelled from coast to coast in Canada.
Special thanks to the staff in the Emergency Dept. at St. Paul's Hospital, as well as the caring staff on 7th floor, and the amazing nurses in Palliative Care, who were so very compassionate. They were so very caring of Bob and I so appreciate it.
A Celebration of Bob's Life will take place in the New Year.
