Roger Cote

November 8, 1943 — June 27, 2025

Roger Arthur Cote passed away in the early morning hours of June 27, 2025 at the Glengarda hospice in Saskatoon. With an overwhelming sense of loss, the family would like to share his obituary written in his own words.

 Roger was born in Rosetown, SK Union Hospital to Peter Cote & Yvonne Cote (Wilvers) 08 November, 1943. He was raised on the family farm half mile north of Sovereign, SK. He attended elementary school in Sovereign, Gravelbourg and Biggar, and high school in Rosetown at St. Joseph's School.

 Roger and wife Cecilia have lived in Saskatoon, SK since they were married in 1967 and at their present home since 1977.

 In his younger years Roger enjoyed curling, slo-pitch ball, and big game hunting. He was also actively involved on a drag racing team for ten years racing in western Canada and USA. He continued to follow and watch all the NHRA professional races on television.

 Roger worked for over fifty years beginning as an engineering technologist based in Saskatoon, ending as an engineering, project and construction management coordinator for many heavy industrial projects, in potash, coal, oil sands, nickel, iron ore, uranium, gold and wolastonite; in the four western Canadian provinces, Yukon and Mexico.

He was a member for over 40 years of the Professional Technologists of Saskatchewan and served on the Board of the program in Moose Jaw. Roger was also a member for twenty years of the Emergency Measures Organization search and rescue group, snowmobile division, for the City of Saskatoon, serving as Chief of Search and Rescue the last few years. 

 Since 1994 Roger and Cecilia have enjoyed many days at their cottage at Turtle Lake, SK. After retiring in 2013 they spent winter months at their mobile home in Brighthaven Estates mobile home park in Mesa AZ.

 He was predeceased by father and mother Peter and Yvonne Cote, sister in law Connie Cote (Rene), nephew Craig Cote's wife Julie (Thompson); sister in law Connie Cote (Arnold)

 He is survived by wife Cecilia Cote (VanCleemput), daughter Rochelle Cote (Cyril Deault); daughter Andrea Cote, and grandchildren, Jacob Weaver, Aleesha Weaver, Addam Weaver.

 Brother Arnold Cote, daughter Michelle Cote, her daughter Danielle with her partner Nick and his son Tyler. Her daughter Megan and her partner Luke. Arnold's son Michael and wife Monique their son Ryan, partner Kysha and daughter Georgia. Their daughter Jenna, partner Noah and son Leo.

 Brother Rene Cote, son Craig Cote, children Corwin, Anwen; son Neil Cote, wife Tiffany (Ferko), children Regan, Tessa; daughter Melanie Cote, James Mackenzie, daughter Marlee.

Also many cousins their children, grand and great grandchildren.

 A Celebration of Life will take place on August 7; full details will be published in the Star Phoenix and the Saskatoon Funeral Home website prior to the event.
