Ronald Mervin Cathcart

March 25, 1947- July 22, 2019

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ron Cathcart. He was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and good friend to many. Survived by his daughter Carey (Blair) Derkachenko, children Riley and Tally (Colton Peacock); Son Doug Cathcart; son Jeff (Teena) Cathcart, children Shanyne and Teegan; brother Wayne (BettyAnne) Cathcart; in-laws Gail Cathcart; Doug (Lynne) Mewis; Les (Jackie)Mewis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Mary on August 2, 2017. He lived most of his life in the Perdue area, meeting Mary in 1966. Ron and Mary were married August 2, 1969. They spent many years farming in the Perdue area before moving to Saskatoon. Throughout their married life, many fond memories were made at their cabin at Turtle Lake with family and dear friends. In recent years, a portion of the winter was spent in Yuma, AZ, where their circle of friends continued to grow. He had a love of politics, travel and talking to people. In addition to the farm, Ron drove tour bus for many years, and then began driving semi. These fed his love of being on the road, seeing new places, and meeting people. More than anything, he loved to have his family, grandchildren, and friends around him. A Celebration of Ron’s life will take place on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 2:00pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home (338-4 th Ave N). Condolences for the family may be left at www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME (306-244-5577).
