Rose Lloyd (née Dreher)
1942-2025
Rose passed away peacefully on April 1st, 2025, after a courageous eight year journey with lymphoma. Rose was born in Frances, Saskatchewan to George and Helen Dreher, and grew up on their family farm in neighbouring Tyvan. The 17th of 20 children, Rose's childhood was coloured by the responsibilities of farm life and the antics of her many siblings. She attended elementary school in a one room schoolhouse in Tyvan, and then onto high school in nearby Fillmore where she would meet her future husband, Roy Lloyd (1941-2005). Rose and Roy were married in 1963 and had their first child, Della Marie, in 1964, who passed away just 10 months later due to a congenital heart defect. In 1966, Karen Louise was born, and in 1971, Leanne Rose (now Astrid Rose) was adopted. Rose and Roy lived in Regina, Saskatchewan from 1963-1979 where they made many good friends with whom they would stay in close contact throughout their lives. In 1979, the family moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in support of Roy's career in the uranium industry. In Saskatoon, their friend circle broadened again as Rose got involved in The Newcomer's Club, CWL, various bridge groups and Riverside Golf Club. Rose's devotion to her friends and family was one of her greatest attributes, as any who were lucky to be counted among them would attest; but at the core of her generous personality was a deeply committed Catholic faith. She was an active parishioner at Holy Spirit Parish for over forty years where she served in various capacities, always eager to help. Rose was a loving, generous and fiery woman, sister, daughter, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, godmother, and friend. Her gratitude and kindness defined her. She lived as she died, active and fearless, with faith and joy in her heart. Rose is survived by her daughters, Karen Lloyd and Astrid Lloyd; her grandchildren, Emma and Paige Johnson, Oliver, Eugenie and Sabine Ollenberger; as well as five of her siblings, Joe, Paul, Gabe, and Cub Dreher, and Carol Stoudt. A funeral mass followed by luncheon and celebration of life service will be held at 1pm on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at Holy Spirit Parish in Saskatoon. Rose loved a gathering - a potluck wake will be held at Stacey and Ward Edward's home after the service. All are welcome. Rose will be interred next to Roy in Fillmore, Saskatchewan, where they first met. We encourage all to wear something to celebrate her colourful life and spirit. Rose chose pink for her final outfit! She will be sorely missed and always remembered. To share memories and condolences with the family, visit www.saskatoonfuneralhome.com
