Sandra June Essar
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Sandra June Essar of Saskatoon on August 29, 2024 at St. Pauls Hospital at the age of 77 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sandra will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her children and their families: Jennifer (Murray Falkowsky) and their children Sarah Falkowsky (Anthony Galipeau), Eric, and Ryan; Leanne Tretiak (Ron Hoover) and her children Zachary (Katie Pellerin) and Mikayla (Garrett Constant); and Adam Essar (Krissy) and their sons Zaiden and Zander. She also leaves to mourn her sisters Sherry Korniski and Shelly (Leonard Slogotski), sister-in-law Cheryl Korniski, cousin Bev Denesik, as well as many other family members and friends. Sandra was predeceased by her husband Walter Essar; parents Bill and Rose Korniski; brother, Con Korniski; grandson, Jeremy Falkowsky; in-laws Wasyl and Dora Essar.
Sandra was born in Nipawin and moved to Saskatoon at a young age, where she attended King George, Bedford and the U of S completing a Bachelor of Science (Biology). In 1968 she married her best friend Walter, and together they raised their children whom they both loved dearly. When Sandra returned to the paid workforce, she taught Prekindergarten at Pleasant Hill and King George schools until she retired to care for Walter during his illness. She was a devoted member of St. David's and Mayfair United Churches, and a lifetime member of the Girl Guides. Sandra loved to travel with her family, and to celebrate every special moment, including Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Special thanks to the staff at the St. Paul's Palliative Unit, Trinity Manor, as well as the many doctors, nurses, and others who cared for Sandra and her family.
