Sister Dolorès Bussière, FDLP

Sr. Dolorès Bussière (Sr. Agnès Thérèse), daughter of Léon Bussière and Marie-Ange Chalifour, peacefully passed away on July 21, 2026. Dolorès, the youngest of 14 siblings was born on April 17th, 1940, at St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon.

She grew up on a farm between Vonda and St. Denis. At the age of 5 she moved with her family to Vonda, attending school there until the end of grade 8. She completed her high school studies in Prud'homme and followed her sister Évèline into Les Filles de la Providence (FDLP), entering novitiate in 1959.

Her 30-year teaching career, teaching primary grades, was in both Saskatchewan and Labrador. After retiring from teaching, she spent 7 years as a missionary in the Ivory Coast (Africa).

Being a member of the General Council for the FDLP allowed her to visit community members in a variety of countries. She loved her community, and worked hard to remain in close contact with her community and her family. 

 She often said, "Life is beautiful." She enjoyed many sports including curling, biking, and walking and was a lover of music and social gatherings. She loved to visit others, and always sincerely asked , "how are you doing?". As she moved through dementia these past two years her joy in life remained constant and she was loved by staff and residents alike for her warmth. 

Most important to her were her parents, her siblings, her relatives, and her friends who were her strength. In unity with God and Mary our Mother: "Rends grâce à Dieu et à Marie!"

She leaves to mourn les Filles de la Providence; her sister Sr. Éveline Bussière; and brother Conrad Bussière (Diane Turgeon); many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Marina Boutin (Claude), Diane Georget (Thuribe), Gerrie Morrison (Armand), and Gervaise Éthier.

Preceded in death were her parents Léon and Marie-Ange Bussière; her sisters Anne-Marie Bussière (Louis Bandet), Cécile Bussière (Fernand Denis); Marie Bussière (infancy), Thérèse Bussière (Steve Dornian); her brothers Désire Bussière (Marie-Louise Lepage), Paul Bussière (Bertha Marchildon), Roger Bussière (Thérèse Lepage), Alcide Bussière (Aline Loiselle), Claude Bussière, Armand Bussière (Yvette April), and Thuribe Bussière.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, August 28, 2026 from Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens Roman Catholic Parish (1007 Windsor St, Saskatoon).
