Steve Chestolowski
December 26, 1925 - November 27, 2025
Steve passed away peacefully on November 27 after a very short illness. He was born in Prince Albert and married Elsie Kowalski on January 12, 1952. They were married for 72 years before her death in 2024. He was one month short of reaching his 100th birthday.
Dad had a very full and wonderful life. After a brief teaching career, he began his employment with the Saskatoon District Post Office where he worked until he retired in 1987. By that time, he was already an avid golfer and also loved camping and going to dances. In the 38 years he spent retired, most of his time was either on the golf course or on the deck of his cabin, enjoying the lake. As soon as they retired, they became snowbirds and enjoyed year-round golfing; winters in Hemet, California and summers in Wakaw.
Dad was also a self-taught carpenter and was very proud of the homes he built. His favourite was the beautiful family cabin at Wakaw. After living at the lake for many years, they eventually moved back to Saskatoon where they spent their time with friends and family and fellow golfers. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of a hole-in-one at Wildwood Golf Course in September of 2010 when he was 84 years old.
It is heartbreaking to say goodbye and he will be forever loved by his family. He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Brenda (Larry), Janet (Dale) and Lynn (Doug); his grandchildren; Tricia (Ken), Tara (Rick), Crystal (Darrin), Jarid (Jill) and Lisa (Steve) and his great-grandchildren; Caitlyn, Cara, Derrick, Dawson, Taylor, Talia, Skylar, Charlie, Connor and Brexley. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elsie, and his parents and siblings. Dad will forever be in our hearts.
We are very grateful to the staff at St. Paul's for their care and their kindness. At his request, there will be no service. Donations to honor Dad, in lieu of flowers, can be directed to the Saskatoon SPCA or the charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the Saskatoon Funeral Home
