Teresa (Terry) Hydomako nee McAvoy, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on September 28th, 2024, at the Royal University Hospital. Before retiring she worked as a pharmacist tech with Mount Royal Drugs. During this time, she made numerous friendships and connections with many of the customers in the Mount Royal area. She loved cheering for her Saskatchewan Roughriders and game days were sacred. It was not well received when the phone rang, or other such interruptions occurred during a game. Terry was a member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL) for 49 years. She enjoyed taking part in many CWL events and took on various leadership roles on the executive for St. Peter the Apostle Council. She was a cheery and social person who loved to spend hours visiting with family and friends. Her strength, resilience, and stubborn nature helped her fight the pain she was in for so many years of her life. Terry never complained when in pain and put on a brave face in front of her family and friends. It gives all of us a great sense of relief and peace that Terry is finally free of the pain that she endured over the years. She was extremely humble and preferred to let others shine while she worked behind the scenes. Terry was generous to a fault. She gave unlimited time and effort to multiple causes, including the CWL. Her rheumatoid arthritis and other medical issues made it difficult for her to take part in activities and things she enjoyed, but she found ways to keep herself involved and remained positive until her passing. Her compassionate care of others as they journeyed to their life's end will always be remembered. Terry has known the love of her life since she was 9 years old. She started dating Marvin at the age of sixteen. Their teenage romance led to 56 years of marriage. Terry and Marv were the best of friends and showed everyone how to dance up a storm at many family weddings and various other functions. Watching Terry and Marv dance the Jive was a great source of entertainment. A couple of weeks before her passing she mentioned that she would have liked to have danced one last time. Terry loved being an aunt and grandmother; she went to as many hockey and soccer games that her body would allow and cheered much the same as she did for her Riders...loud and proud! Auntie Tee could be counted on for anything, a good laugh, a shoulder to cry on, or a place to stay in a pinch. Our family would like to thank all the amazing nurses, doctors, homecare aids, and clergy & staff that took care of her in recent years. Terry will be deeply missed by her husband Marvin; son Jason and daughter Tina; grandchildren Dustin (Brianna) and Morgan; siblings, Michael (Diana), Joe (Sandy), Margaret (Don); numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. She is reunited with her parents, Joseph and Isobel McAvoy, and niece, Allyson Schwab. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Arthritis Society Canada in memory of Terry. Funeral prayers will be held on Friday, October 11th, 2024, at 7:00pm and the funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Both services will take place at St. Peter the Apostle Church (1121 Northumberland Ave). The Saturday Funeral Mass will be available via livestream for those unable to attend in person. Please feel free to wear green or a Rider jersey to the services.
