It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of Terry Hayes. Terry was born in 1944, the oldest of five children, to Walter & Florence Hayes. Growing up in Sovereign Saskatchewan, he enjoyed a special relationship with his Uncle Norman, helping him out on his farm. He always talked very fondly of those days. In the early 60’s, he moved to Ontario to look for work and got a job as a steel worker at Lasco Steel. It was there he met his wife Karen. They married in 1969 and in 1972 they welcomed their daughter Danielle. Missing the prairies, in 1976, the little family moved back to Saskatchewan, settling in Saskatoon. It was at that time that Terry began his 35 year career as a travelling salesman. Throughout his career, he sold everything from Ponds Cold Cream to foods to many local restaurants. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t sell and he developed many clients that trusted and were always happy to deal with him. This also led him to become member of the ACT organization, where he met many lifelong friends. In his spare time, he loved curling, golfing, fishing and most especially working in the yard and garden. He loved being outside in the fresh air and work from sun up to sundown. In the fall, there were always plenty of fresh vegetables to enjoy and his lawn was always the most beautiful on the block.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 54 years, Karen, daughter Danielle (Stephen) Korol, brother Brent (Barbara) Hayes, sisters Heather (Ron) Lenius, Brenda (Ray) Prefontaine and several nieces, nephews & great nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Walter & Florence Hayes & his brother Dwane Hayes. The family would like to thank the staff of RUH and Oliver Lodge for taking care of him over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you donate to the Alzheimer’s Society. A Memorial Tea will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Edwards Family Centre, 333 4 th Ave. North, beginning at 1:30 pm. Courtesy parking is available at Saskatoon Funeral Home.
