Theresa Coates

Terry Coates passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, at Trinity Manor in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. 

Born on a farm near Marcelin, Saskatchewan to Harvey and Antoinette (Robin) Dagenais, she married Edwin Rutten in 1946 and farmed near Marcelin until Edwin's passing in 1966. They had three children: Joyce (Edward) Tremblay, Dennis (Carol) Rutten, and Karen (Dennis) Barber. In 1970, Terry married Ernest (Ernie) Coates and farmed near Leask, Saskatchewan. She had one stepson: Dennis (Louise) Coates. 

Terry and Ernie travelled the world and wintered in Needles, California for many years. They had a wide circle of friends and enjoyed entertaining, fishing and playing golf in retirement. Terry was kind, thoughtful and loved by all who knew her. Gatherings with family and friends gave her great joy and everyone felt at home in the warmth of her presence. 

She is survived by her son Dennis (Carol), daughter Karen (Dennis), stepson Dennis (Louise), and son-in-law Edward Tremblay, brother Maurice (Lucille) Dagenais, brother-in-law Willie Diehl, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. 

She was predeceased by her first husband Edwin Rutten, her second husband Ernest Coates, her daughter Joyce Tremblay, 2 brothers (Raymond and Ernest), and 4 sisters (Cecile, Florence, Irene and Lucy). 

The family wishes to thank Trinity Manor staff for the compassion and care they lovingly provided Terry during her 10 years living there. 

A Celebration of her life will be held at Marcelin Roman Catholic Church later in the spring.
