Thomas Henry Morrison
August 25, 1940 - January 29,2026
It is with great sadness that our family announces the death of Tom Morrison, age 85, of Asquith on Thursday Jan 29th at Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon. Tom was born in the Asquith area and attended Hawoods School. After working on the farm, he decided that auto body was a trade he wanted to learn. Tom later met Edith, who had recently moved to Asquith. They fell in love and were married in 1964. Children followed, with twins Donna and Doreen in 1965, son Kevin in 1967, and daughter Sandra in 1972. Tom eventually got tired of the commute into Saskatoon, and turned his 'side job' of car and mechanical repair into a full-time business in Asquith, (Star Auto Body) which he operated until his retirement.
Tom very much believed in giving back to the community he spent his life in, and was involved in organizations such as Asquith Minor Hockey, the Asquith branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, and as Councilor and Mayor of Asquith. But the organization that he cared for the most was the Asquith Fire Department. Serving as Fireman and then Chief for decades, Tom was proud of the advances made in his time on the AFD, with new equipment, personnel and a new firehall the biggest achievements, save for the Model A fire truck that Tom took the lead in restoring, and which he loved to drive in parades.
Tom was predeceased by his parents as well as infant daughters Donna and Doreen, and his wife Edith. He will be lovingly remembered by son Kevin (Patricia Coleman); daughter Sandra (Will Berg) and her children William and Johnathan; great-grandson Theo, sisters Ella, Lois, Bonnie and Connie, and their extended families.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Feb. 5th 2:00 pm, at the Saskatoon Funeral Home, 338 4th Ave N in Saskatoon. After a private internment, there will be a gathering at the Asquith Seniors Centre, starting at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for donations to be made to the Asquith Fire Department or to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
