It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, Trey Reid Johnson on February 27, 2026.
Trey was born on March 3, 2001, in Saskatoon. From the moment he entered this world, Trey brought a light that touched everyone who knew him. He was a son, brother, grandson, cousin, nephew, partner, and friend, but above all, he was a father.
Trey found his true sense of peace and happiness at the family cabin at Wakaw Lake. The cabin was filled with the things he loved most: family, laughter, and togetherness. He especially enjoyed nights sitting by the campfire.
He also enjoyed the annual fishing trips with his dad and Papa. Those days on the water became a cherished tradition-something he looked forward to year after year. Those moments were about more than fishing, they were about connection, understanding, and a bond that will forever be a part of the legacy he leaves behind.
Trey looked up to his older brother, Cole. They had a special bond and shared many great memories together. They had each other's backs through it all - a love that never waivered.
In 2023, Trey met the love of his life, Talisha Thunderchild and her son, Malikai. In 2024, they welcomed their beautiful son, Chosen who completed their family. His son was his greatest love and becoming a dad gave him purpose and strength.
Trey was gentle, kind, compassionate, loyal and had a great sense of humour. To know him, was to love him. There are truly not enough words to capture everything about Trey. We were fortunate to love him, and to have him love us. If love could have saved him, he would still be here.
Trey will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his parents, Jeff and Melissa, his brother, Cole (Kiana), Papa (Bill Orban), his partner, (Talisha Thunderchild) son (Chosen) step-son (Malikai) paternal grandparents (Carol and Brian), and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nephews and friends.
He is predeceased by his Nana (Vivian Orban), cousin (Gracie), and beloved dog (Piper).
A celebration of Trey's life will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 2:30pm at Saskatoon Funeral Home located at 338 Fourth Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK. The service will be livestreamed and recorded via the link at the top of this page. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Prairie Harm Reduction or any animal rescue of your choice.
