Vernon Michael Steger passed away peacefully on Feb 2, 2025 at the age of 76 years old, in Saskatoon SK. Vernon was born on April 29, 1948 in Hafford, SK. the 3rd child in the family and was born to Frank and Mary Steger. Vernon attended school in Marcelin SK. He later attended College in Saskatoon for Agriculture. Also attended winter college in U on K (Krydor). He started his farming life on the family farm with his dad and his brother. He later started farming on his own, buying two quarters of land in 1968. Vernon's love for the farm, the land and the crops was in his heart. Vernon married the love of his life in 1976, Dawn Darling who he was married to for 48 years. He showed his love for his community in his public service. Vernon was on the Town council for the Hamlet of Marcelin, a counsellor for the RM of Blaine Lake, on the Marcelin fire Dept. Marcelin library committee. One main goal for the RM and Marcelin Fire Dept was to get one extra fire truck in the RM of Blaine Lake as backup for surrounding communities. Vernon showed compassion to the seniors and children, making sure to always make them feel special by taking them for a ride in the combine or grain truck. He was very good at making people feel special from friends, family, nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed.
