The family of Vernon Richard Wudrick are sad to announce his passing on December 1, 2025.
Vernon was born on a farm near Aberdeen and began trucking at the age of 18. He was a true modern cowboy, enjoying country music, rodeos, and good times as he travelled North America in his Mullens semi-trailer.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Florence, and his siblings Leonard, Sandra, and Rita.
He leaves behind his partner, Marilynn; his children, Quinton, Trevor, Monique, and Elaine; his younger sisters, Joyce, Elly, Myrna, and Gloria; and numerous grandchildren and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Highway Home
So many miles under the wheels,
So many trips to make.
So many places that you see,
The road keeps you awake.
So many nights you drive till dawn,
And you do this on your own.
The only time the miles seem short,
Is when you are on the highway home.
The truck stops all merge into one,
The food is merely food.
You wonder if it's all worthwhile,
If you chose the proper tool.
And when you sink to your lowest depts,
You no longer want to roam.
You get a trip that take you back,
You are on the highway home.
When I come to my final day,
And my road comes to an end.
I will travel that trail with few regrets,
No fences left to mend.
No office now to show the way,
It is a trip I will take alone.
I hope they say as I leave the yard -
He found the highway home.
