Virginia Kaye

1930 — August 17, 2019

Kaye, Virginia
July 7, 1930 – August 17, 2019

Mom was born on July 7, 1930 to parents Andrew and Rose Cerniuk of the municipality of Preeceville, SK. Virginia attended elementary classes at Brookview school district 4340 of the Sturgis unit, then at the Balfour Technical School in Regina.

Virginia married Peter Kaye (deceased 1984). Together they had five children. Rock (deceased 2014), Kimberley (deceased 2011), Randall, Ron (Lynda) and Parker, grandchildren Erin, Nathan (Michelle), Carson, Greg (deceased 2011), and Amber, great-grandchildren Merrill, Ayden, Ethan and Hunter. She also has her brothers and sisters who will miss her dearly. Brother John (deceased) (Dorothy), William (Barbara), Frank (Merlene), Theodore (Barb), James (Olive), Ed (Louise), Winston (Shirley), Russell (deceased) and Paul (deceased). Sisters Florence (Alex Shewchuk, both deceased), Doreen (Neil Omit, deceased), Veronica (Murray Devenny, both deceased), Gladys (Bill Totosuk, both deceased), Evangeline (Don Mills) and Elenor (Dave Cupples, deceased).

Mom enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing, and most of all loved having people visit. She enjoyed having her children over to share her thoughts and interests. She especially enjoyed family reunions and nieces and nephews weddings, where she could spend time with the family.

In Mom’s words: “To my friends and acquaintances who have visited me over a cup of coffee or tea- a fond farewell. Having the moral support of family and friends, I never felt bored. My children gave me the strength to endure life’s downfalls. Please remember me for my cheerfulness, optimism and zest for life!”

The family wish to give special thanks for the outstanding care given to Mom by Simona’s Care Home and St. Joseph’s Care Home.

A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Saskatoon Funeral Home (338 4th Avenue North).
