Wade Francis Mitchell

1956 — April 7, 2024

The family of Wade Francis Mitchell are deeply saddened to announce his passing on April 7, 2024 after a short battle with lung cancer.  Wade passed away peacefully with his loving wife Karen by his side.

Wade was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on December 27, 1956 to Kenneth and Isabelle Mitchell.  Wade and his four siblings Ian, Cameron, Bonnie and Darrell grew up on a farm west of Cardross, Saskatchewan.  From his parents and life on the farm, Wade learned the value of family, hard work and developed his love for Saskatchewan.  Wade attended elementary school in Crane Valley, then moved to Saskatoon for University. He met the love of his life, Karen Mitchell (nee Schappert), in Saskatoon where they spent their life together.  Together they raised their three children Evan, Drew and Gillian which are his proudest achievements.

Wade worked his entire career at ASL Paving Ltd, becoming co-owner in 2004 and President from 2006-2014.  Wade was a remarkable businessman in Saskatchewan, helping ensure the legacy and success of ASL Paving.  After suffering a stroke in August 2006, he spent months recovering to return to his family and ASL Paving.  Wade took pride in his involvement with the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation after his recovery. Wade was dedicated to being the leader of ASL Paving, but nothing was more important to him than family.  Wade loved spending time at the family cabin at Emma Lake, touring the world with Karen and having his family return home for any occasion.

Wade leaves to cherish his memory; his best friend and wife of 41 years Karen Mitchell, sons Evan (Stephanie), Drew (Katelyn) and daughter Gillian Clark (Brett); grandchildren Emily, Jack, Isabelle, William, Lucy, Sophie and Burke, along with many other family and friends.  You will be forever missed but never forgotten as you soar above looking over us.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the CNIB Guide Dogs.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, April 15 th 11:00 am in Saskatoon at Knox United Church (838 Spadina Cres. E.).
