Wendy Jean Johnston
March 16, 1953 - December 5, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Wendy Jean Johnston's passing on December 5, 2024. She was the youngest child of the late William Josephus Johnston and Margaret Lillian Johnston (née Wyatt), the cherished sister of Susan Johnston (deceased) (Anthony "Tony" Sproule) and Nancy Pollock (late Ted Pollock), and the devoted aunt to Kathleen (Katie) Sproule and Sarah Pollock.

Born on March 16, 1953, in Peterborough, ON, and raised in Hastings, ON, Wendy graduated from the University of Western Ontario and began her lifelong career at the National Research Council Canada in Ottawa. Her work with the NRC took her to Saskatoon in the 1980s, where she built a home surrounded by wonderful, lifelong friends.

Wendy touched the lives of many people through her friendship; she was the one who kept her friends and family connected across vast distances throughout the years. She connected with family in England while travelling after university and remained in touch as time passed. For nearly a decade, she and her sisters traveled across Canada for their annual 'sister trip.' In 2020, they adapted by holding bi-weekly virtual calls to stay connected. Loyal, caring, and thoughtful, she was always there to lend an ear when you needed to talk and to offer words of support and understanding.

Wendy loved a good celebration-whether it was a birthday or a holiday-enjoyed good-natured ribbing and loved to joke and laugh. A big fan of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, she would often mention her excitement about their playoff games and never hesitated to wear green while watching them. She also had a passion for reading that was contagious, encouraging many to pick up a new book.

In Wendy's honour, let's enjoy a good book, a good joke and each other's company. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Wendy's beloved friends in Saskatoon. She loved and was loved by many.
