Wilfred Huber

June 21, 1949 — April 11, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Wilfred William Huber, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Wilfred left us peacefully on April 11, 2025, at the age of 75.

Born in the Carmelheim District to John and Monika (Sander) Huber, Wilfred spent much of his childhood and young adulthood in Landis, Saskatchewan, surrounded by his beloved siblings: Phillip (Carol) Huber, Ferdinand (Joan) Huber, Kenneth (Ellie) Huber, Susan (Ian) Gibson, Rose (Gordon) Fehr, Glenn (Kim) Huber, and Daniel (Becky) Huber.

In July of 1971, Wilfred married Willowene "Dean" Sheppard, the love of his life. Their beautiful union began after a chance meeting at a trailer factory, where Willowene shared her sandwiches with him at lunch. Their love grew quickly, and together they built a life that was rooted in hard work, love, and deep family values.

Wilfred's career journey began with the United Grain Growers, where he and Willowene moved between various towns in Saskatchewan, including Macklin, Swift Current, and Moose Jaw. Yet, no matter where their work took them, Wilfred always returned home to support the family farm. In 1980, he and Willowene settled in Allan, SK, where Wilfred began his 35-year career at the Allan Potash Mine. Throughout his career, Wilfred's passion for his work and dedication to his colleagues never waned. He was always thrilled to reconnect with past coworkers, maintaining a lifelong bond with those he worked alongside.

During their years in Allan, Wilfred and Willowene also purchased the Allan Trailer Court and laundromat, where Wilfred's work ethic, integrity, and genuine humanity shone through. Whether serving his community or guiding his family, Wilfred treated everyone with respect and kindness, teaching all who knew him valuable lessons on how to live with compassion, strength, and loyalty.

A loving father to Martha Humphries, Dawn (Walter) Murray, and Clark (Renèe) Huber, Wilfred was most proud of his nine grandchildren: McKenzie, Dawson, Austin, and Kaylie Humphries; Kaisy Huber, Reese Huber, Andrew Murray, Jett Huber, and Jules Huber. He often spoke of them and all his extended family with admiration, sharing their accomplishments and strengths with anyone who would listen. His love for his family was boundless, and he took great pride in the lives they built.

Wilfred leaves behind a legacy that will forever impact those who were fortunate enough to know him. His strength, loyalty, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family are qualities that will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life and the lessons he imparted.

Wilfred is survived by his loving wife, Willowene, his children, grandchildren, and his extended family. He will be forever missed, but his memory will continue to inspire and guide us.

Predeceased by his parents John and Monica Huber, and nephews Daniel and Brian Fehr, and John Gibson.

A service to celebrate Wilfred's life will be held at Daniel Huber's Farm (The old Landis farm stead) on June 1st if you are interested in attending please email your rsvp with the number of attendees to wilfredcelebrationoflife@gmail.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local Children's Hospital.

"His love, his lessons, and his legacy will live on forever in our hearts."
