William "Bill" Brumwell

It is with both sadness and pride that we announce the passing of William Henry Brumwell, known to most as Bill, on July 11, 2025, at the age of 90. A beloved father, cherished grandfather, and a friend to many, Bill's life was defined by his kindness, humor, and wisdom.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ebba Eggleston, with whom he spent his later years in companionship and mutual support. He is also survived by his first wife, Marie Brumwell, whom he was married to for 44 years. Although they divorced in 2006, their mutual respect and care for one another endured, and their shared love for their children and family remained a cornerstone of his life.

Born on April 21, 1935, on the family farm in Plunkett, Saskatchewan, Bill’s early years were spent working hard on the farm, especially after his father's passing. He started school at Eltham School in 1941, where he remembered a happy childhood despite needing to leave school after the eighth grade to help support the family. Bill later returned to school to pursue a career as a plumber and worked for many years at Johnny’s Plumbing and Heating, before moving to Nickel Plumbing and Heating. Eventually, he joined the National Research Council as a plumber while also running his own business, B&D Plumbing and Heating, until his early 80s.

His greatest pride, however, was always his family. Bill would happily share the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren whenever given the chance. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. Bill was the loving father of:

• Dean Brumwell (Rhonda) and their children Dominique, Natasha, Saskia, Tes and Layne
• Debra Ginther (Scott) and their children James, Nikolaus, and Mackenzie
• Darren Brumwell (Tahimarys) and their children Molly, Luke, Aaron, Yaimarys, and Tahimarys
• Deanna Kukurudza (Warren) and their children Diane and Michelle

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by his father, William Brumwell; his mother, Marie (Brumwell) Dawes; his stepfather, Victor Dawes; his sister, Ruth Brumwell; his brother, Ted Brumwell; and his half-brother Harry, and half-sisters Pearl and Violet.

A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, July 25th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at McClure United Church, 4025 Taylor Street East.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Saskatchewan or the St. Paul's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
