William (Bill) Flahr

William (Bill) Anthony Flahr was born on February 2, 1934, in Scott, Saskatchewan. When he was seven years old, his family moved to Moose Jaw, where he spent his childhood before heading to Alberta in his late teens to work in a sawmill and later on the oil rigs.
On January 4th, 1956, Bill married the love of his life, Dolores Rozon. Together they built a wonderful life filled with love, hard work, and family. They were blessed with four children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous pride and joy.

In 1966 Bill moved his family to Saskatoon and in 1980 they relocated to an acreage near Grandora, Saskatchewan. While working as an ironworker with Dominion Bridge for more than 30 years, he developed a passion for hobby farming. Following his retirement in 1999, he devoted himself full-time to the farm he loved.

Bill believed in the simple pleasures of life. He loved dancing on Saturday nights with Dolores, playing cards with family and friends, joining in on extended Flahr family reunions and making homemade sausage for everyone to enjoy. His home was always a place where family gathered, laughter was shared, and memories were made.

As a young man, Bill was also an accomplished athlete, earning a medal as the Provincial Champion Lightweight Boxer in 1950—an achievement that reflected the determination and perseverance he carried throughout his life.

Bill will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, generous heart, and deep devotion to his family. He taught by example the value of honesty, hard work, and caring for those you love. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and in the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to know him.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 70 years, Dolores; his children Bill Jr. and Donna, Dan, Stacy, Brett and Debbie and his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family and many dear friends.

A vigil of prayer will be held at Saskatoon Funeral Home on Sunday, August 09 at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Philip Neri Parish on Monday, August 10th at 11:00 am, with lunch to follow at the Nutana Legion.
