William Laverty

William (Bill) Henry Laverty, born in Toronto, passed away suddenly and peacefully at his home in Saskatoon on March 8, 2026. Bill was a respected professor of statistics at the University of Saskatchewan, where he dedicated many years to teaching and mentoring students.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Rana Pudifin, and his children Kevin, Erin, Véronique, and Melanie, and his cherished grandchildren Isla and Kieran. He is also remembered by his sister Kathy and brothers Norman and David and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his daughter Kirstin and by his parents, Evelyn and Harold Laverty.

Known for his kindness, intelligence, and generosity, Bill had a welcoming spirit and a remarkable capacity for understanding and forgiveness. He was a steady source of support and encouragement to his family, friends, colleagues, and students, and he left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Bill's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the W.A.E. Edwards Family Center (333 4th Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK.) Parking is provided across the street at the Saskatoon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
