William "Bill" Raymond Wood

WILLIAM (BILL) RAYMOND WOOD passed away peacefully at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, on August 19, 2026 at the age of 95.

Bill was born to Sidney and Grace Wood on February 15, 1931. Bill married Joan Katherine Bradt on June 11, 1955 and they were able to celebrate their 71st anniversary, before Joan passed away on July 18, 2026.

Bill and Joan have three children: Kathy (John) Arthur, Bob (Marlene) Wood, Jan (Mike) Wood Daly. Bill and Joan were also the foster parents of Ronald Beardwood (who predeceased them in 1988). Grandchildren: Beth (Bryan) Maenz, David Arthur, Andy (Lisi Schrottner) Arthur, Sidney (Jessica) Wood, Natalie (Nigel) Mullan, Calvin (Deb) Wood, Christian (Tessa) Wood, Bethany Wood Daly. Great-grandchildren: Jackson and Kayleeana Meanz; Arya and Graeson Wood; Damian, Mercedes, Kingston and Felicity Mullan; Elanor (predeceased) and Logan Wood; Sophie and Ava Wood.

Bill graduated from McMaster University with his B.A. and M.Div.; and from Knox College, University of Toronto with his Th. M. and from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with his D. Min.

Bill's student pastorates were at Sidney Baptist Church and later Humber Blvd. Baptist Church in Toronto. Bill's first pastorate was at Ferndale Baptist Church in Toronto where he served for 7 years. Bill was the Associate Pastor at Walmer Rd. Baptist Church in downtown Toronto for 6 years. Bill and his family moved to Saskatoon where Bill was the senior pastor at First Baptist Church for 10 years. Bill also served as the President of the Baptist Union of Western Canada for one year. Bill was the senior pastor at Highland Baptist Church in Kitchener for 5 years. Bill then moved to Blythwood Rd. Baptist Church and was senior pastor there for 3 years. Bill served as President of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec for one year.

Bill served for one year as the Director of the Mission Capital Fund for the Baptist Convention, and then served for five years at McMaster Divinity College as their Development Officer, Associate Professor and Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program, before retiring in 1996.

Bill will be remembered for his faith in God and his devoted service to others.

The Funeral Service will be at 2 PM Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Saskatoon Funeral Home. Because of construction, head east from 2nd Avenue on 25th Street and turn right at the alley behind the funeral home.
